Effective managers accomplish stated goals and objectives by shaping an environment where employees are willing and able to contribute their best efforts on a daily basis. This requires the ability to effectively apply basic management competencies (i.e. communication skills, feedback, delegation.)
Additionally, it requires the ability to create an environment in which employees feel respected, appreciated and acknowledged.


PROGRAM SUMMARY: The FOUNDATIONS OF MANAGEMENT is a management development workshop that is designed to support supervisors and managers in developing and enhancing the skills required to:

• Manage people successfully
• Plan and organize work effectively
• Develop a work environment that fosters employee motivation and morale.

In a highly interactive process, participants will focus on developing basic skills of management as well as personal empowerment skills that enable them to positively contribute to the culture of the organization.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES: As a result of participating in this program, supervisors/managers will enhance their ability in the following areas:

• Develop an awareness of the impact of personal power
• Learn strategies to use personal power effectively
• Resolve problems in an objective, positive manner
• Apply communication tools to establish two-way communication with employees
• Listen with empathy
• Provide effective feedback (i.e. constructive criticism, appropriate praise)
• Organize work roles and responsibilities
• Delegate to accomplish tasks, manage time and develop employees
• Develop and maintain a climate conducive to professional development and organizational effectiveness

 

PROGRAM STRUCTURE:

  • Pre-workshop Self-Assessment to assess present strengths and development needs in the areas to be covered during the workshop
  • Modules designed to focus on specific management competencies
  • Concept and skill specific models and tools for participants to use in work situations
  • Post Workshop Action Plan support, enabling participants to develop a plan to focus on individual improvement objectives
  • Follow up session with participants to assess action plan implementation and provide feedback and support
